Why AP?

A score of 4 or 5 in Advanced Placement Chinese will not only meet many colleges’ foreign language requirement, but will also provide documentation of Chinese language ability for future professional and academic pursuits. 

According to the College Board, “AP Chinese Language and Culture is equivalent to an intermediate-level college course in Chinese. Students cultivate their understanding of Chinese language and culture by applying the interpersonal, interpretive, and presentational modes of communication in real-life situations as they explore concepts related to family and community, personal and public identity, beauty and aesthetics, science and technology, contemporary life, and global challenges.”

Our program introduces the format of the AP exam and helps students learn test-taking skills. Most importantly, we coach. Preparing for free-response questions builds more than just students’ test-taking skills — the process also hones life skills like email correspondence in Chinese, narration/storytelling, conversation competency, and ability to discuss culture practices, products, and perspectives.
